What Is Rosacea?

What is rosacea
There Are Four Types of Rosacea:

  • Rosacea eritematotelangiectastica, which is the most frequent, and manifests itself with veins and redness in the nose and cheeks.

  • Rosacea Populopustular, or also called acne rosacea, in which pimples appear around the nose.

  • Rosacea Fimatosa, in which the skin becomes more thickened and with veins. It is more common in men and the area where this most prominent thickening appears is usually in the nose.

  • Ocular Rosacea, which occurs in 20 percent of rosacea, manifesting itself with irritation, tearing, and redness of the eyes.

People with rosacea tend to have very sensitive skin that is easily irritated, that's why it’s imperative to use fragrance-free products without aggressive ingredients.

The exact cause of rosacea is not known, but the triggering factors of outbreaks of the disease are known, such as emotions, alcohol, spicy foods, the sun, creams with cortisone, sudden changes in temperature, physical exercise and finally a mite that is found in 80 percent of skins with rosacea called demodex folliculorum.

Can Rosacea Be Cured?

So far, a cure is not known since there is no pill, cream or laser capable of eliminating it forever, but there are many ways to improve it and keep it under control. However, for a treatment to work, the ideal would be to have the correct diagnosis when the signs and symptoms are evident. Once the diagnosis is confirmed, the dermatologists advise:

1. Avoid triggering factors, such as those mentioned above.

2. Use a suitable cosmetic for your type of rosacea that must be prescribed by your dermatologist.

However, not all facial redness can be considered rosacea and, although there is no definitive cause, there are many effective and safe treatment alternatives. The combined use of creams with oral treatments together with laser to eliminate veins has proven effective in most people.
